 There’s no point in owning a Ferrari if you drive it in your living room; a Ferrari needs open road to really shine. Like the road, RAM provides the space in which your computer can work. RAM is used as "main memory" or primary storage: the working area used for loading, displaying and manipulating applications and data. The majority of computer operations are written to the RAM, which can read and write much faster than your hard drive. So even with a fantastic processor and top-end video card, you won’t get peak performance out of your gaming rig if you don’t have the RAM to back it up.  Arguably the most important component of your gaming system, your video card will affect how smoothly graphically-intense games will run on your system. Having a higher end video card means increased performance, such as better frame rates at higher settings. Basically, when video cards are better, things get shinier.  The power supply provides the energy to run all the components of your computer. The power supply you select must be at least large enough to handle the load required, but extra power does no harm.  The operating system (OS) is the base software that allows you to interface with your computer and through which all other programs run. Since virtually all games are designed to run on Windows, this is the only OS we offer, and since the OS is so important to your computer’s functionality, we only offer the complete versions (no Home Editions here).  If you’re like most people, you’re used to using Microsoft Office’s suite of software for the more mundane day-to-day tasks. Though your system is built for gaming, you may want this software for those times you can’t avoid work getting in the way of your game.  Your hard drive provides permanent storage for your data. This space is used to store such things as music, games and videos. The larger your hard drive, the more data you can store. The RPM of your hard drive will also affect how well your computer runs, but to a lesser extent. As your computer runs low on RAM, it starts using some of your hard drive as temporary storage, and the speed of your hard drive will affect the performance of your system. more info |

 When multiple hard drives are put into the same computer, different configurations are possible. The two hard drives can operate independently, they can be linked to act as one hard drive, which is called RAID 0, or one can duplicate everything on the other, which is called RAID 1. RAID 0 gives the highest performance, since two hard drives working together allows faster data retrieval, while RAID 1 provides a continuous backup of all data in case one hard drive fails.  A DVD RW drive is an input/output device that allows data to be read or written to a CD or DVD. Nowadays, virtually all DVD drives, including those offered here, read and write to both CDs and DVDs.  While a second CD/DVD drive won't improve your computer's gaming performance, it can be a convenient add-on for daily use. A second drive allows a direct copy of one CD/DVD to another, which can be a great time-saver for software backups, and it allows simultaneous access to two different CDs/DVDs, which may cut down on swapping out your two favorite disks.  If you have a flash card-based device, such as a digital camera, or another device using a floppy disk-like storage card, you may want to consider getting a multimedia drive.
